We’re rallying businesses, schools, and neighbors across the Triangle to put CPR skills and AEDs everywhere they’re needed, starting right here in Clayton and Johnston County.

What it means

What is a HEARTSafe Community?

HEARTSafe Community is a national designation from the Citizen CPR Foundation that recognizes places which have built real, measurable systems to survive cardiac arrest. More than 600 communities across the country have earned it by committing to a shared model built on three goals:

Widespread CPR training

Everyday people — coworkers, coaches, parents — trained and confident to act in the first minutes.

Accessible AEDs

Defibrillators placed, registered, and ready in the workplaces and public spaces where people gather.

Strong response protocols

Coordinated plans linking bystanders, 911, first responders, and hospitals into one chain of survival.

Earning the designation means working through 13 evidence-based process measures and submitting a formal application to the Citizen CPR Foundation. It’s a community effort — and that’s exactly why we’re asking you to be part of it.

Rescue Beats is leading a push to earn HEARTSafe Community designation for our own backyard first, then carry the momentum to Raleigh, Durham, and the rest of Wake and the Triangle. Very few communities in North Carolina have earned this. Ours can be a model for the state.
